There is an Italian gelato shop near my home that is extremely delicious. The pistachio flavor is rich and creamy, the dark chocolate flavor is bitter with a sweet aftertaste, the mint flavor is fresh and slightly astringent, the strawberry flavor is light, sweet and soft, and there is also my favorite bacio (a blend of chocolate and nuts)… The following is a few thousand words of praise.
The shop owner is a very kind Italian grandpa. He once gave me a small spoon to let me try most flavors and finally gave me a super large portion of pistachio and dark chocolate flavors. My daily routine in summer was work - swimming - rewarding myself with ice cream. Even now when I think back, I feel happy.
It's getting cold recently, but I still have a craving for ice cream, especially the large 1-liter boxes that I can store. Google Maps shows that this store is open all the time, but I've gone there three times and found it closed each time. As far as I know, many ice cream stores close in winter, while some in tourist areas stay open all year round. I don't really want to call the store and disturb them, so yesterday I couldn't hold back and directly wrote a review on Google Maps asking if this store is closed in winter.
I didn't expect a reply, after all, looking at the comments below (all positive), the shop owner has never responded. I just thought I'd give it a try, most likely no one would reply to me, and then I'd just go to the second candidate store to buy the large box. But a few hours later, I received an email saying that my comment had been replied to.

It's clearly the tone of an Italian grandpa, hahaha! I wanted to reply but found that the comment section couldn't support a conversation. So I quickly sent a text message to him, saying thanks for his reply and asking if he could open the store when I come to buy at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Five minutes later, Grandpa Yi replied again, saying that he wouldn't sell it to me but would just give me one as a small gift for the coming winter.

Ahhh! I have to say, this really shows that this person is from Italy! Maybe they are going to close the shop and go on vacation in Italy, but they still think about the customers! Of course, I won't let them give me a liter for free 😂 I'll just have one free ball and then buy a big box instead. Hehe!
(The story continues. I'm leaving now to visit the store.)
All of a sudden, I realized that although I spend the whole day slaughtering various enemies in the old man's domain, I'm actually a warm-hearted person too 🤡🤤
Update! I got it! I got it! The old man was indeed waiting for me!

I bought a whole box of pistachio flavor, chocolate flavor, strawberry flavor and raspberry flavor. The old man even gave me a discount, and I got a one-liter box for the price of half a liter!
Hello, sir! Thanks to the positive feedback from the universe, I'm going to sleep early and get up early tonight!
2025 November 20th Update: Several UUs asked me why I gave it a 4-star rating 😅 I really don't know or remember anymore 🥲🥲 After some reflection, it might be that subconsciously I thought the difference between 4 and 5 wasn't significant, and 80% was already good enough; also, Google Calendar kept showing that it was open, and I went there many times but there was always a sign saying "not open today", subconsciously I felt a bit unhappy. If it's closed for a long time, it could be said as "closed during the Winter". Every time I thought it was just not open today, so I went to hunt for ice cream the next day with great enthusiasm 😅 But it still didn't open.
I just went to Google Maps and gave it a 5-star rating and added a comment saying that Mr. Daming is an absolutely wonderful person! The pistachios cured my winter illness ?? Now I see that the store is currently marked as "Closed Temporarily", so let's wish Mr. Daming a pleasant vacation in Italy to enjoy the island's cuisine and sunshine.
PS. I've already finished all the ice cream 😂😄 A full liter 🙃😭 Compared to worrying about stomach pain, I'm more curious about how to spend the rest of the winter (Boss, maybe you should come back... )
